HISTORy
The Christian Brothers arrived in 1867 and began a very proud tradition of educating the young people of Midleton for many generations.
The original site of the C.B.S. Primary School was at Rosary Place, across the road from our existing building.
In 1968 a new £60,000 primary school was blessed and opened for Midleton C.B.S. This two-story building had eight class

In the late seventies pupil numbers had outgrown the capacity of this building and a four room extension and General Purpose Room (Hall) was constructed adjoining the main building.
This extension also included two smaller rooms, a Language Support Room and Secretary's Office. The patio garden, which is the focal point of the Green School Committee's activities, also owes its origins to this time.

Pupil numbers fluctuated up and down during the nineties and noughties. The first decade of the 21st century saw an upsurge in the population of the town and a renewed demand for pupil space.
In 2009 St Brigid's received a brand new building from the DES and very kindly donated the front building (formerly the Infants School) to Midleton CBS. This should help to meet its accommodation needs for many years to come.
One of the instant benefits of this acquisition has been the increase of play space (30%) for pupils and it has allowed the school to have three separate play areas with ample space in each. Midleton CBS now has the largest playground of any school in the town.
One of the long-term development goals of the school authorities is to increase the size of its General Purpose Room to that of a decent sized hall, capable of housing all functions within the school in decent comfort, such as assemblies, concerts, visits from outside groups, individuals to the school, meetings etc.
Applications have been made to the DES, without success to date but the school is determined to persist with its campaign to achieve this much needed facility.
